In 2004 the Board assumed responsibility for regulation of maximum prices for petroleum products in the province in accordance with the Petroleum Products Act.”

This according to the PUB’s mandate and line of business responsibilities…..while this line of business has been in affect for 10 years, one would assume and hope that this directive is fair and good for both consumers and the Province. I have no idea, but can only defer to the experts that really have no political horse in the game. If the mandate outlined is problematic by Doc and others, then please lay out what’s better for the people or better for the PUB. I have been mesmerized for years about petroleum pricing and the likes of Doc O’Keefe only exacerbates the discussion. If Doc is truly interested in maintaining his constituency of 120’s playing seniors in yyt, then I suggest he take over the reins of what George Murphy did on his weekly updates. After Open Line is over, Doc is lost in a world that extends past noon

The PPP Act is what Doc wanted. Now he admits it cannot do anything.

So then he needs to shut yup about it or agree the whole thing was a waste of time and scrap it.

Actually all he really has to do is shut up!

And on to Doc Furey…oh my, not sure where to begin? Should probably “scrub” my full comment but I’m sorry he just teed it up for a full assault on a load of WTF’s!,!

Your comment on who his advisors are is appropriate and obviously evident that that they are not doing well in the advising department. AF has a huge problem and ward robe changes, with out explanation, only furthers the narrative that his photo ops far exceed the level of any substance on his messaging. It almost leads me to believe that his advice is coming from the “Producer’s Den” from Son of Critch. AF was good at following JT with his coat off, tie loosened and shirt rolled up ….but this has now laughable and sad.

Over the years, our Premiers have given audience over a hotel breakfast or morning coffee on the 8th to listen to sage advice from their trusted advisors and friends. We all knew or suspected who our Premiers advisors were….some circles were respected and some were dubious. But this takes the cake when AF’s advisors seemed to be concerned with image over substance. The slippery slope towards a Richard Hatfield ….is becoming a reality

They either give bad advice or he ignores good advice.

Re regulation by the PUB - its pretty funny when you think about it! Politicians locally believing our little tiny corner corner of a little tiny country could influence/ impact how the world market determines prices on a commodity. I guess the politicians figure they will cod a few people, but the vast majority know the difference.

As long as we the taxpayer, aren't paying anything for the PUB to exist, leave it as is. If we are paying, we need to revolt as tax payers to have this sham removed.

Tell me we don't pay anything for this - do we???

There's a bias inside any large bureaucracy to grow larger and control more. even though there is no policy goal involved here and even though there's a huge political prices to pay for price fixing, we have a system that is 100% a fraud in every respect.

I have never heard anyone argue with clear evidence or example what government "regulated" gas prices actually does.

And I am surprised no one has yet suggested copying this for grocery prices. The same lack of logic applies but for some reason no party backs it. Yet.

All these "Govt controlling the price" schemes have already been tested. In Cuba, Venezuela, the former Soviet Union, North Korea, etc etc. Doesn't seem to work out very well for people. "Everyone is equal. Equally Miserable."

A few smiles reading this, and yes, a guy so obsessed with making the good doctor image while our healthcare system as a whole is in shatters and needs life support. A wanta be Dr Grenfell, in those far away places, while our own province is in shambles, in every way. Low in the polls did you say?

The result of a general election right now could well be roughly the same numbers we have right now, even slightly flipped with the PCs on top.
