Revenue, Borrowing, Servicing existing debt, Spending. Balanced Budget, anyone?? How can we continue to spend more than we earn? Is there a plan to stop living above our means. "Austerity budget" is not a bad word, let's shout it out loud.
So where does the money come from? How do you raise revenue for services without taxation? Who collects? You want to live in St. Anthony, that is your choice. You have the right to live wherever you want. You don't have the right to ask people in other parts of the province to pay for it. There is a certain cost of living because services are mandated. Garbage collection, fire protection, snow clearing, maintenance. I guess you expect people to live in St. John's to pay for it. This is the kind of backward thinking that has this place like it is. People in St. Anthony want the services or they would would voice their displeasure in paying for it or so they should.
How about making people in unincorporated areas pay for their services? How many people in this province don't pay property taxes? This is the only province that puts up withi sort of nonsense. They don't even want to pay for fire protection Make ferry users pay for their fair share instead of asking people who live in bigger towns to pay for it. Time for a big resettlement program in this problem.
progress on child care solutions for NL families. The $10 a day for child care was a great in theory but the reality is there are very few licensed daycares in the province — pretty well nonexistent in rural areas like the Bonavista and Burin Peninsula. I frequently see social media posts by parents "desperately seeking" child care so they can return to work, or continue to work.
