Ed, wonder if you ever considered running in politics to put your knowledge and experience to the benefit of this province?

Or maybe your best doing what you do , to help inform the public with your writings, and trying to keep the circus crowd at least half honest. And your pieces has a bit of humour, not exactly Ray Guy, but not too bad, given the serious issues you deal with.

I notice Peckford (aka Little Alfie) has gone silent on Trump since the tariffs went ahead yesterday. Seems Peckford has gone a bit more cracked this past few years, much further right, and in much praise of Trump, but now a 24 pause. A few years ago he said Trump just had a few flaws. Birds of a feather stick together?

I watched the Trump show last night. Hard to believe this loonie, who thinks he is the greatest president ever, got some 77 million votes, I suspect Melenia may have voted against him, her smiles and claps so artificial.

Trump now has the head lock on Canada, with the tariff economic squeeze. Will we buckle and surrender in a few weeks, or be like Ukraine against Russia, ? So far, tough talk, Trump called smart , but his tariff action called dumb. Warren Buffett, not very dumb, calls it economic war by the USA.

Oh my, the arse is going right out of 'er, hey b'y.

Just a crazy thought, could Trump, with his new world order, get us a better deal with Quebec, a better MOU for Churchill Falls?

Trump has a headlock on himself.

He's calling for a "compromise" because the tariffs he alone imposed have tanked his economy and are not going over well with consumers, as predicted. Like Putin, he can fix the problem himself unilaterally. No negotiation needed.

The arse is not really going out of 'er in Canada and you can tell because while all the Premiers talk tough they want to take no action to match.

The MOU is the biggest existential threat to NL and there is no way to tweak into "god".

Needs to disappear entirely and start from scratch.

Our best hope is that Legault will go down in flames before the deal is finished.

Yes, Trump has a headlock on himself, but he won't choke as quick as a Mountie choke hold might. His age or stress is taking effect, notice his right eye is now closed about 20 % more than the left! What else is gong on. And mushy Musk, takes Ketamine, he admits himself, and seems maybe to take too way too much. Tesla now on a dive, as Trump pushes the the old engines. China pushes much further ahead with green technology.

Some of Newton's 3 brief laws of physics are at play. While it applies to physical objects and forces, seems to apply somewhat to politics ; every force cause an equal and opposite force etc..

How this plays out, we don't know. Could be very messy, and long lasting.

Your other piece, you mention France's Macron's skill, which I noticed, a rare event how to handle the immature Trump bully. A Bart Simpson leading the free world. Would the Book of Revelation help, or is that Trump's guide?

Locally, who of substance are in politics to steer our ship? Few if any.

If you look at the current Liberal race you will see all of the huge flaws in the closed, controlled processes parties use to pick leaders.

They will make three wrong choices in a row, with the rigged game for Hogan and this one may finally cost the Liberals power.

Winton's last point is not crazy.

We should be able to sell direct to market, with no internal impediments. Right now, Canada Tariff's itself, with hydro, oil, crab etc not being allowed across provincial lines. We should take care of our own side of the street before worrying about the other side.

Canada beggars itself with internal barriers.

Like I said to Winston, when the Premiers *act* in alignment with their dramatic, extreme rhetoric, then I'll take them seriously. Until then they are, like Furey just talking about stuff they obviously know nothing about.
