Monday we’ll take a look at the popularity of Accords and where they fit in local political circles. This is prompted partly by an update I sat through this week that was astonishingly familiar despite all the claims of change. It was death by overhead and only 30 people showed up for the live dog and pony show.

There’s a piece on accountability that’s stuck in the pipeline. It might pop out next week, just like Andy and his red Adidas just happened to pop up in Montreal a couple of weeks ago and bumped into Francois Legault. But that really ties to a bunch of other failures of public accountability in Newfoundland and Labrador.

Today’s suggested pile of readings are:

  • Jen Gerson on Justin Trudeau

  • David Descoteaux on Hydro-Quebec’s power shortfall

  • HQ posted the fifth largest surplus in the corporation’s history last year…

  • But that’s down almost 30% from the year before

  • The Emergencies Act needs replacing

  • Fen Hampson knows how to make Putin pay for Navalny and more
