Not much in the way of preliminaries this week.
The list of fun stuff to read covers Brexit and English political culture (No, it’s not a dead subject), Pierre Poilievre’s attack on the CBC, and a few other juicy tidbits.
It’s been a big week. Take an easy Friday and an easier weekend.
Next week the House of Assembly comes back and things might get bigger. Not sure what Monday’s column will look like yet. There are a couple of things in the works but nothing’s crystallised to the point where there’s no question what will appear. That’s the way things are some weeks.
Could be public finance in light of the federal decision to keep the current version of Equalization in place until the end of the decade. Could be about the impending jumps in electricity rates. Seven percent in June without Muskrat Falls. Gawdonlynose next year.
Could be some musings on politics in this province over the past 20 years. Kinduva wrap up to the series from last year that never actually got the ending it was supposed to get. That series was an exercise in thinking out loud, which has been normal around here since the beginning. Something grabs my attention. I stew on it for a while and then write a bit here and a bit there. Only much later might the whole pattern become obvious. Monday’s potential piece - a draft right now - points out the patterns.
Last thing before the jump: buy Mike Connor’s book on the House of Assembly Press Gallery when it comes out.
