Three things.
First: this week’s reading list has some non-Substack stuff . There is a lot of great writing and thinking going on that isn’t Substack. Check out the rest of the Wavell Room for example if you want way more high quality military analysis than you find anywhere else.
Second: A great new Substack feature for paying subscribers is the online chat that’s run through the Substack Reader app. If you haven’t downloaded the app already, don’t waste any time. The iOS is running and chat for Android (my phone) is on the way. I’ll join the party as soon as I can. In the meantime, if you are subscribing to other great Substack newsletters, you can get in on their chats as well.
Third: A heads up for next week.
Monday Free-for-All is a story about the time the provincial government bought it’s own bonds because no one else would.
Wednesday we’ll have a column for paying subscribers about what’s been going on in the House lately especially about the receipts Barry Petten keeps asking for and the guvmint crowd don;t want to produce. If you are scratching your head over it, this should stop you from making your sore scalp any worse.
And here’s the bullet version of what’s below the paywall:
The Minolta logo story
Confessions of a Russian Paratrooper
An inside view of the turmoil at Twitter under Elon Musk
Then James McLeod looks at the new Twitter from a user perspective
Lawrence Freedman on Putin and the jaw-jaw
An intelligence experts take on the Emergencies Act inquiry
Eric Grenier’s Weekly Writ
