The temperature in the south end of Sin Jawns - locally known as the West End (it’s a long story) - is pushing 100 degrees Fahrenheit, the neighbours have someone paving their driveway, someone farther up the street is on their umpteenth spliff of the day, the wind is blowing the fumes of both through the window, a Liberal canvasser came by to waste everyone’s time (not voting is the most attractive option in this house), and the home office chez scribbler is unfit for much as a result of all of that.
There’s a good piece in the works for next week, another on defence for the week after, and on the whole things are moving ahead but today is not the day for much else. Oh yes. Heads up: we’ll have the podcast back in the fall. First one is in the can. Second one is coming later this month. More will follow. This is a subscriber-only feature.
Anway, on this hot day on the first of August as I am lacking this out, what better time than to give you all a few things to read, some of which go back to June. So grab a cold drink, flake out on the glider on the deck, and enjoy the weather and these few scribbles by others to enlighten, provoke, and entertain.
