The Big Series
And an oops
If you just got an email from me, then you know there’s a series coming on politics in Newfoundland and Labrador.
The first part drops on Monday.
It’s called “Managed Democracy”.
The rest will be be for paid subscribers only.
Every Wednesday in July and for a few in August, there’ll be a new installment until we get the whole thing done:
Government communications,
news media,
political parties,
the legislature, and
voters.
The email that just went by accident was an empty placeholder with the working title.
Sorry for the surprise.
But not sorry if it whets your appetite.
This is the most ambitious Bond Papers project to date. The series will pull together observations since the first SRBP post in 2005 until now to show the changes in local politics and where we are today. It’s big. It’s detailed. But it should explain much of what is going on.
The picture is complicated and intriguing. You may be astonished how early some of the current trends emerged and how some of them pre-date developments in the rest of North America.
Meanwhile, through the rest of the summer, the Monday free columns will be a mixture of current events and some curiosities, plus there’ll be the usual Friday suggestions for reading or listening.
