Lloyd Parrott and the Pea Seas think the provincial government should sell the Bull Arm fabrication yard to a crowd from the United Kingdom that claim they will rebuild and service submarines there in the next decade.
“This presents a generational opportunity for Newfoundlanders and Labradorians — one that must not be ignored,” Parrott parroted in a news release.
Generational opportunity is the Millennial way of saying bullshit or scam, apparently.
"We now have an opportunity to write a new history that will benefit Newfoundlanders and Labradorians for generations to come,” Andrew Furey told the Sin Jawns Bored of Trade last October in what the Bored billed as Furey’s State of the province speech. Little did anyone outside Furey’s Brian Trust know at the time Furey’d already sold out to Francois Legault despite promising at that Bored meeting that he “will only accept a deal that ensures full and fair benefits for everyone in Newfoundland and Labrador.”
Furey said the same thing as he shuffled his cabinet in a panic in mid-2024 after Tom Osborne quit: “It's a generational opportunity. It's a generational moment for us to set a sustainable path of economic prosperity for generations to come.”
Furey’s social media handlers wrote in 2023 that “You can feel the optimism and enthusiasm for where our energy sector is, and where it is going - with valuable oil and renewable resources to meet global demand. Our province is embarking on an exciting generational opportunity, perfectly positioned at this time of transition.”
No one is going to build submarines at Bull Arm.
