What’s the book under Furey’s ghost-written volume about hope? Image: ntv.ca

In a year-end interview with AllNL that appeared in 22 December 2022, Premier Andrew Furey promised that justice minister John Hogan is working to change election finance laws.

It’s a curious commitment because in the same interview, Furey insists there’s nothing wrong with the current election finance rules. All the money that corporations give to the Liberals didn’t get the donors any special favours. The idea that corporate donations give the people behind the gifts control over politics is the reason why some people want to do away with corporate and union donations.

So if there’s nothing wrong - according to Furey - there’d be no reason to do anything.

But Furey is going to change things anyway.

‘Cause that’s the kind of innovative transformationally strategic dude PAF is.
